چکیده

[1] ABSTRACT The International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) is designed for colleges and universities to compete in the design and construction of an autonomous aerial vehicle. Pima Community College is being represented by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Club. The UAV Club has designed a primary vehicle and three subvehicles that will be used in the competition. The vehicles were designed with autopilots that will work closely with GPS navigation and groundbased computers to control the aircraft. The following will explain the mission objectives and their purposes, the purpose of the design of the vehicles, the problems encountered and solved, design of software and the use of optical sensors to achieve success.

Low Cost UAV-based Remote Sensing for Autonomous Wildlife Monitoring

In recent years, developments in unmanned aerial vehicles, lightweight on-board computers, and low-cost thermal imaging sensors offer a new opportunity for wildlife monitoring. In contrast with traditional methods now surveying endangered species to obtain population and location has become more cost-effective and least time-consuming. In this paper, a low-cost UAV-based remote sensing platform...

Optic flow-based vision system for autonomous 3D localization and control of small aerial vehicles

The problem considered in this paper involves the design of a vision-based autopilot for small and micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The proposed autopilot is based on an optic flow-based vision system for autonomous localization and scene mapping, and a nonlinear control system for flight control and guidance. This paper focusses on the development of a real-time 3D vision algorithm for e...

Quadrocopter control using an on-board video system with off-board processing

In recent years, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have gained increasing popularity. These vehicles are employed in many applications, from military operations to civilian tasks. One of the main fields of UAV research is the vehicle positioning problem. Fully autonomous vehicles are required to be as self-sustained as possible in terms of external sensors. To achieve this in situations where the...
